My dumb self bought a brand new bike for my first. 2023 Honda Rebel 500 SE. A new Rebel 500 is one of the best first bikes you can get. +1. I came so close to getting one for my first, but COVID hit and got a shit box shadow 750 and wrenching it back to shape during lockdown. I think starting out with bikes you need to wrench on is an awesome
84 Honda shadow 700/750 starting problems. So I purchased this bike last year, I wish I could say I got it for a good price. After thinking whether I should sell it and cut my losses or fix it up myself, I decided to keep it. My first issue is getting it started. It wont start under it's own power, it has to be jumped.
This is an absolutely badass motorcycle that you will love if you are a fan of cruisers. Really the only thing that makes it less than ideal is that 4 speed transmission. If it had one more gear it would make riding on the freeway a bit easier. Pros. Perfect V-twin engine size at nearly 600cc’s. Inexpensive since it’s discontinued.
5473 posts · Joined 2012. #8 · Nov 13, 2013. Poor starting even in cold weather, is an indication of a problem. The proper procedure should work even in very cold weather: Full choke No throttle. It sounds like a carb adjustment problem but may be plugs or dirty air filter. An 1100 is not necessarily too big for a beginner, just have to take it easy to start and make sure it fits you physically. The newer cruisers are all pretty low on the seat, so shorter people can reach the ground easier on them. Sit on some, test how they fit (move the handlebars side to side fully, put your feet on the pegs, etc) at minimum.
Back to our subject photo, the bike on the right is a CB450SC Nighthawk. The combination of a wide silver stripe on the side cover and one piece cast aluminum wheels mean this is probably a 1983 model. The one on the left is quite a rare bird, a CB450S, the final 86-88 model where that bulletproof engine was given a more rigid perimeter frame

As the volume of fuel in the tank decreases, the gravity feed to the carbs begins to draw a slight vacuum in the tank because it's not allowing air in to displace the fuel. Honda Shadow 750 and similar bikes might be a way to go to get Japanese reliability. I'm just not sure what the situation is like in Germany. Cruisers aren't quite as tough to get started on compared to supersports because the engine tends to have a more even power curve, but - the smaller the better, really, for a first bike.

Check out more new bikes in Rider‘s 2024 Motorcycle Buyers The Kawi Vulcan 650 S you mentioned will actually pull harder than a Shadow 750 for regular street driving, The 650 S Vulcan is about 55hp with a higher redline and can run a 13.6 in the 1/4 mile, and the shadow 750 is 45hp but it would be lucky to pull off a 15.0 in the 1/4 mile.

This may not be your problem, but next time it will crank but won't start try this test. Try jump starting it with a car battery (car engine not running). If it starts normally then it's probably time for a new motorcycle battery. 2009 Shadow Aero, the wife's ride (sometimes mine, too!) My main ride, 1990 GL1500SE.
I hadn't ridden in 35 years, so I got an 81 KZ 750 from my brother in law and rode it for a couple of years. It was a good bike to get used to riding allover again. The weight of the 750 was about 500 pounds. The 1500 Classic is close to 800 with all the accessories and fluids. 4imjH.
