Mob/ EXP Farm Not Working, New to Minecraft. Just as the title says, I'm fairly new to minecraft and I can't quite seem to get my mob farm to work. I've seen tutorials saying to build the farm high enough so that when they drop, they die and you get the loot but I want them to survive so I can kill them myself and get the xp.

Not sure why my xp farm isn't working. So I built an xp farm, just a regular tower shaped farm, and I'm not getting any mob drops. I made sure it was dark inside, I lit up surrounding grounds and caves, and I built it next to my village. Any ideas why I'm not getting any drops? Archived post. Place in front of the observer a block and then two blocks next to it. Run down 5 blocks on the side and then place dispensers on top of that.

Edit 2, Answers: The gold farm worked, although we ended up building a turtle egg based farm instead of a zombie pigling aggression based, since that seemed to be the issue for other paper users.
